Woven Textures Cake

This cake was inspired by lots of beautiful wall hangings I’ve been seeing on Pinterest lately. Coincidentally, it was also the first time I’ve ever use a grass piping tip!

I have to say there’s definitely a bit of a learning curve with these piping tips, so here’s what I learned from this cake:

  1. Pressure is very important! If you do not apply enough pressure of move fast enough, the long strands will come out unevenly or break. This takes a few attempts to get used to. Don’t be afraid to squeeze pretty hard!
  2. Keep the end of the tip clean is super important for a design like this! I think this was more of an issue for me because I was trying to do long strands, but as soon as the end of the tip gets clumped up with frosting, your strands won’t pipe out right. So keep a towel handy and dab of any excess before it builds up.
