What’s the surest way to a smile? Rainbow cakes, of course!
Here are three cake decorating ideas using a rainbow color palette to get you inspired. These cakes are all decorated with my basic Swiss Meringue Buttercream, but you can certainly use other types of buttercream as well.
And, if you’re curious about how exactly I color my buttercream, check out Color Like a Pro. It’s a free course I’ve created to teach you exactly how to color meringue-based buttercreams.
Rainbow Rosette Wreath
This decoration couldn’t be easier! Imagine six equal sections on top of your cake, then fill each with rosettes of a different colors.
I used a #32 star tip to pipe these rosettes, but any size would work.
Learn more about how to pipe rosettes in this post: Star Tip Cake Decorating.
Simple Rainbow Flowers
Add a leaf, and simple rosettes turn into cute little flowers!
I used tip #32 and for the rosettes as well as the shell border. For the leaves, I used a tip #352.
Textured Rainbow Petal Effect
This textured petal effect is one of my top favorite ways to decorate a cake! It looks stunning all in one color, but works just as well with this rainbow color palette!
Again I used a #32 star tip.
